New date added and volunteers needed for the COVID-19 vaccine walk-in clinic

The University Health Service are adding a new date to their COVID-19 walk-in clinic due to high demand in the past two weeks. This week the clinic will operate on Wednesday 20 October between 13:00 and late in the afternoon (depending on demand), as well as on Saturday 23 October between 10:00 and 16:00, with Saturdays remaining a regular date for the foreseeable future.

You can check the NHS ‘Find a coronavirus vaccination site’ website for the most up-to-date opening times, as well as other upcoming dates.

The Health Service are offering first and second doses of Pfizer, as well as booster doses to eligible staff and students. In case of vaccines such as Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik Light, if you have had one dose you will be offered a full course of Pfizer, and if you have had two doses you will be offered one dose of Pfizer. No further vaccination will be offered if you have already had two doses and a booster.

The University Health Service have also opened a call for volunteers to ensure the vaccine roll-out goes smoothly. This involves showing people around, helping with consent forms and check-ins, as well as attending the waiting area post-vaccination. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and helping the NHS please contact Michael Penston from University Health Service at [email protected].
