The Enactus Southampton team, representing the UK after winning the national competition, have made it through to the final four of the Enactus World Cup final.
Winners of the Enactus World Cup in 2015, the Southampton team is a SUSU-affiliated student-run social enterprise, which aims to provide students with business experience, and help individuals and communities in need. They are part of the global Enactus community, whose shared mission is to create new, innovative entrepreneurial projects which aim to have a positive impact on the world by tackling social needs. For the competition, they had to showcase their social and community projects to business executives.
This year’s finalists are: Victoria Wiesmath, Leo Seus, Gian Marco Caramelli, Natasha Salhan, Tara Landmark, Gracie Horton, Maleeha Mahmuda and Yasmeen Sherif, led by branch president Dimitris-Marios Stoidis. Winner of the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award at the national competition, Dimitris is the founder of the successful FutureBrew enterprise, an environmentally conscious initiative which makes beer from surplus bread.
Sarah Rogers, Student Opportunities and Enterprise Manager, said: ‘We are so proud of the team for making it through to the final, where they will compete against three other teams for the title of Champion. It is great to have their hard work recognised in this way – it is an incredible achievement to have made it this far.’
Enactus Southampton will compete against Tunisia, Egypt and Canada in The World Cup final, which will take place today, 21 October, at 16:00. Please join us in wishing the team the best of luck for today’s competition.
