If you park your vehicle in a permit-controlled car park on any of the University campuses, you are required to display a valid permit. Car parking charges were suspended last year, and it has now been confirmed this suspension will continue until 1 April 2022.
We are currently addressing the future of car parking permits and implementing changes to provide more options for staff. We will update you on this in the new year.
What does this mean for me?
- If you have an orange annual 2020/21 staff permit this will not be replaced and will be deemed as valid until 1 April 2022.
- If you need to park on campus and do not have a current permit you will need to apply for one – but there will be no charge.
- Parking enforcement is undertaken by the Parking Team and vehicles not displaying a valid permit may receive a parking charge notice.
Travelling to campus more sustainably
Longer-term, and post-COVID, it is clear we will need to plan for a shift to less private car use and reduced parking on our campuses, for a number of reasons. This will be in line with our Strategic Plan – Sustainability and Travel Plan, as well as Southampton City and Winchester City Councils’ long-term Transport and Sustainability Strategies, which will see a move away from private car travel to greater use of public transport and alternative travel options.
For full details about all methods of travel to our campuses, please visit our Transport webpages.
It is important that you use our online booking system if you have visitors coming to campus to enable our parking team to monitor capacity.
