Are you interested in helping to find solutions to food waste?

Are you age 18+ years, involved with preparing food and living in a household in Hampshire?

Food getting thrown away is a problem to the environment and the economy. Every year one third of all food produced is wasted and this comprises approximately 6% of total greenhouse gas emissions globally. In the UK more than £19 billion worth of food is thrown away annually.

We need solutions, can you help Postgraduate Researcher Hannah Barker find them? This study aims to understand patterns of food waste in Hampshire in order to help understand where and how to focus efforts to tackle the problem.

The study team is looking for volunteers to take part in a citizen science project on food waste. It involves taking photos on WhatsApp of food waste for 7 days from 22 – 28 November 2021 and a 15 minute conversation on the phone to carry out a questionnaire on social demographics and food behaviours. People who complete the photo diary will receive a £10 voucher.

To find out more contact Hannah Barker on: [email protected] or 07398 967971.
