Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark E. Smith, has today sent an email to all staff and shared a video message to express his gratitude to colleagues for their contribution to the university this year and to reflect on how much we have achieved together in 2021.
In his email to staff, Mark said:
“As we approach a New Year, I hope our achievements of the last 12 months give us the reassurance and confidence to know that, together, we are more than able to meet whatever further challenges we might face in the months that lie ahead. COVID will continue to cast its shadow, and will continue to meet its match in science and medicine and research. And that is why it’s so important that we never lose sight of our purpose and mission – what we do as a University community has never been more important.
“I hope you will be able to take a restorative break over the seasonal holiday period, after a tiring year. Our huge collective thanks, as always, to those of you who will be working over that period, supporting our students and our campuses, for which I am personally very grateful.”
