The Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP) January workshops

Below are the events already planned for the Academic network in January, more may be added in the New Year, please keep an eye on the CHEP events pages. Do please note the new ‘In conversation with our research leaders’ in early February, one to put in your diary.

10 / 13 / 17 / 20 / 24 / 27/ 31 January – Power Hour of Writing

Join in with a series of morning Power Hours to provide you with that elusive protected time to focus on writing whilst facilitating a sense of community.

Thursday 20 January – Systematic Reviews: searching the literature

This course will show you important tools and techniques to help you create a search strategy suitable for use in a Systematic Review.

Wednesday 26 January – Making the most of Open Access publishing: Q&A

This session will cover types of open access, funder policies, uploading your journal articles, publisher deals, finding open access material and anything else you would like to ask.

Wednesday 26 January – Public Policy|Southampton: Researchers Engaging with the Policy Process

This workshop includes sessions on ‘Thinking about top tips on influencing policy’. ‘Research engagement in political policymaking environments’ and ‘Practical workshop: presentation and listening exercise’.

Wednesday 2 February – In conversation with our research leaders – Professor Marika Taylor
Professor Marika Taylor will discuss her triumphs and some of her failures; the challenges she has met along her academic journey and how she has managed to overcome them.
