The government has announced changes to COVID-19 guidelines in England.
From today (7 January):
- Anyone arriving in England who is fully vaccinated will no longer need to quarantine on arrival. If you arrive before 4am on 9 January, you will still be required to take a PCR test on or before Day 2 after you arrive. If you arrive after 4am 9 January, you may take a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) instead of a PCR. For further information on the latest travel guidance please visit Gov.uk.
From Tuesday 11 January:
- If you receive a positive Lateral Flow Test for COVID-19 you will be required to self-isolate immediately and will no longer be required to take a confirmatory PCR test.
- For further information on the latest testing guidance please visit Gov.uk.
The guidance for anyone who develops the three main COVID-19 symptoms has not changed – you should stay at home, self-isolate and take a PCR test. You must self-isolate if you get a positive test result.
Students who are required to self-isolate should complete the student self-isolation form, after which they receive a wellbeing call from University staff who can help students understand the support available, from academic support to access to food/drink.
Staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are required to self-isolate should complete the staff self-isolation form.
Ensure you are testing twice a week if you regularly attend campus – you can do this with lateral flow tests or through our saliva testing programme.
You can collect a swab testing kit (LFT), as well as pick up replacement saliva testing kits from our campuses. You can find a list of locations via SharePoint.
We continue to monitor current cases within our University community and will update staff and students as the situation changes. It is important that we continue to all take responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe. Find out more on our Campus Life page.
