Technical Skills Survey Launch on Monday 10 January

The Technician Commitment is excited to announce that the Technical Skills Survey will be launching on Monday 10 January. The Technical Skills Survey has been developed in response to the Technician Commitment’s 36-month action plan and represents a collaboration between our University and the National Technician Development Centre (NTDC).

The survey is intended to support the career development of all our technical colleagues and has been created in line with the values held by the Technician Commitment: career development, sustainability, visibility, and recognition. This survey will help us better understand the breadth of skills and experience within our technical community and highlight any skills and development gaps that may be present. In addition, each participant will be sent a personalised report of their responses, which they can use to help guide future career development discussions, either privately or with their line manager. More information about the survey can be seen on the National Technician Development Centre pages on the Technician’s Hub.

On Monday, all our technical staff will receive an email from the NTDC with a personalised link to the survey. It will take 60 minutes to complete but can be saved at any point and returned to later. The survey will be open throughout the month of January.

All participants will also be entered into a prize draw, with one £50 voucher, one £30 voucher, and one £20 voucher of your choice up for grabs.

The results of this survey will help the Technician Commitment to provide positive developments that will support our technical community and ensure every technician is able to thrive at the University of Southampton. We hope as many technicians as are able will take part.

The Technical Skills Survey has been approved by AREQA, reference: 2021-242
