The Technician Commitment Implementation Group is pleased to announce that registration for the inaugural Technician’s Conference 2022 is now open. This event represents the first opportunity for technical staff to build a community across the entirety of our University and get to know one another, as well as providing professional and personal development.
This conference will be held on Wednesday 30 March 2022 in the Centenary building on Highfield Campus, and all technicians are invited to attend, along with staff who have a technical role but are not part of the formal Technical and Experimental TAE pathway. The event will be a celebration of the huge range of contributions made by technicians towards teaching, enterprise, research, knowledge exchange, and infrastructure support right across our faculties and buildings. It will provide colleagues with excellent opportunities to network, attend workshop sessions spearheaded by technicians, and listen to a range of speakers.
There will be also be a poster session, and all technical staff are invited to submit a poster that explains their ongoing work. To submit a poster, please see the Technician’s Conference Poster Guidelines.
The event will culminate in the presentation of the StarLab UoS Technician of the Year Awards. These prestigious awards recognise excellence in the technical community. Technicians can be nominated by their peers, line managers, or the staff and students they support, and nominations are now open until Friday 25 February. If you would like to nominate a colleague, please visit the 2022 Technician of the Year Award and 2022 Technician of the Year Award Nomination Guide pages on the Technician’s Hub.
The conference fulfills one of the key aims of the Technician Commitment to increase the visibility of technical staff and their achievements, demonstrating both the progress that has been made with the Technician Commitment and the University’s dedication to this initiative.
