Take part in a driving simulator study

Do you know what an AV thinks is a hazard? Help test our training programme in a driving simulator.

Funded by IAM RoadSmart and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, we are looking for drivers who hold a full and valid UK driving licence to take part in a study which aims to investigate the effectiveness of an online training programme for drivers of Level 4 Automated Vehicles (also known as self-driving vehicles or autonomous vehicles).

What’s involved:
You will first take part in one of two training programmes for drivers of Level 4 Automated Vehicles. Then you will be taken to the driving simulator. After undergoing a practice drive, you will experience 5 scenarios in the driving simulator, each one lasting between 2½ minutes and 4½ minutes long. After completing each scenario, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire (two questions) about the scenario that you just experienced. The final part of the study involves you answering a few questionnaires about you and your experience of the study.

This study will take between 1½ hours and 2 hours of your time and you will be asked to follow COVID-19 procedures throughout.

You will receive £20 as compensation for taking part.

If you would like to take part in this study, please email Siobhan Merriman at [email protected] by 28 March 2022.
