Southampton Business School alumnus, Oluwafemi Adedipe (MSc. Business Strategy and Innovation Management, 2016) has won the award in the Business and Innovation category in the Nigerian national finals of the British Council ‘Study UK Alumni Awards’.
As founder of StreetCred and Pistis Reserve, Oluwafemi won the award for his work in providing financial access for underrepresented groups and businesses in Nigeria. Oluwafemi is also the founder of the Pistis, a leadership development platform for high achieving students.
Oluwafemi nominated himself for the award after being encouraged to do so by our Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR) Volunteering Team, for his outstanding work and dedication to improving livelihoods in Nigeria.
Oluwafemi joined Southampton as a Chevening scholar and has continued to support the University, delivering workshops and talks for Southampton Business School students and giving his time as an E-Mentor via the E-Mentoring Southampton platform.
The British Council Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of international alumni, who are making a significant difference to their regions, countries, and communities. This year, the University has had five national finalists representing Southampton in India, Nigeria and Jordan, and has several alumni shortlisted in the global finals, which will take place later this year.
Josie Love, Senior Engagement Manager (ODAR) and Project Lead for the British Council Study UK Alumni Awards, said:
“I am delighted that Oluwafemi has won the award for Nigeria. His work is truly inspiring and testament to transformative power of entrepreneurship. This has been our best year yet in the British Council ‘Study UK Alumni Awards’ – it’s been wonderful to see so many Southampton alumni recognised this year for their positive contributions to society and we are so proud of all of them for what they have achieved.”
Later in the year, the University will be further celebrating its talented alumni with the launch of its own Outstanding Alumni Awards. More details to follow.
