The University of Southampton is preparing for a new fundraising and engagement campaign, the largest of its kind in our history.

Our University was founded on a gift, and to this day philanthropy and supporter engagement continues to support our research, student experience and vital infrastructure.
With a fundraising goal of £100m, the Campaign for Southampton will support key priority areas across the University. For the first time, we will also include a volunteering target (to be confirmed), that will dramatically increase volunteering and engagement with our 265,000+ global alumni community, supporters, students and staff. Our vision is to drive a transformational step-change in giving and ultimately create an increased and enduring base of support for our life-changing research, education and enterprise.
The Campaign for Southampton is led by the Campaign Leadership Group, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor and with representation from every Faculty. At the moment, we are exploring two exciting and inspirational lead projects that will help us achieve the remarkable and build an inclusive world.
- A new state-of-the-art Medicine and Health Research Building will be situated at the University Hospital Southampton site, bringing together the brightest minds from across the University to tackle the greatest health challenges of the future, driving innovation and speeding the transfer of novel ideas into new interventions, from bench to bedside.
- The Ignite Programme supports undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to make the most of their studies, through scholarships, bursaries, and engagement activity. Already supported through fundraising, the Campaign presents a key opportunity to grow this ground-breaking and sector-leading programme and to support more disadvantaged students across their complete academic careers.
The Campaign has the potential to unify our community in ways we’ve never attempted before. In the future, there will be opportunities for all our staff, students and supporters to get involved in a range of ways.
