Academic Transitions Support Toolkit

As part of the University’s Enhancing Academic Support and Delivery project, CHEP has been working in partnership with key stakeholders to deliver a new Academic Transitions Support Toolkit.

This toolkit is illustrated by one-page interactive map that will signpost academics to a range of support materials and examples of good practice that are available to enhance students’ transition to studying on their programme at various touchpoints of their journey.

The toolkit is available for all staff, especially those involved in supporting student transitions. It is primarily designed to be used by Programme Leaders in developing their support for students.

“I am very pleased to see the release of the Enhancing Academic Transitions Support (EATS) Toolkit. This has been designed to support academic staff by providing guidance that will help them to support students’ transition to studying at our university. It is based on evidence of what works and existing good practice and includes resources and materials to support students at key points throughout their academic journey.” – Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President (Education)

The Enhancing Academic Transitions Support (EATS) workstream (part of the Enhancing Academic Support and Delivery project) is led by Neil Ford with the overarching objective of supporting academics to enhance students’ transition to studying at UoS. Based on evidence of ‘what works’, EATS aims to encourage activities that help to develop a sense of belonging, as well as identifying relevant support at key points of the student lifecycle.  The full objectives and more details can be read on the Enhancing Academic Support Project page.
