Following the University’s recent success at the British Council Study UK Alumni Awards in Nigeria, we are delighted to announce that a second Southampton alumnus has won a national award at the British Council Awards national ceremony in India, which took place on Saturday 12 March. Southampton Law School alumnus Rohit Mukul (LLB, 2017) won the award for Business and Innovation for his pioneering work in providing access to affordable medicine to communities across India as Founder and CEO of ZeeLab Pharmacy.
Since graduating, Rohit has continued to support the University, sharing his story with prospective students and will be participating in a panel discussion at an alumni virtual roundtable during the University’s India Week. Rohit credits the University with playing a fundamental role in his success:
“My time at Southampton has shaped the foundation of the values, ethics and skills I value deeply – one of the most indispensable skills I developed has been a tunnel focus for the goals and vision I choose to pursue. The University set me up to thrive in the real world, and I am forever grateful to the faculty and my friends from Southampton for the experience of a lifetime.”
The British Council Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of international alumni, who are making a significant difference to their regions, countries, and communities. This year, the University has had five national finalists, representing Southampton in India, Nigeria and Jordan, and has several alumni shortlisted in the global finals, which will take place later in the year.
Later in the year, the University will be further celebrating its talented alumni with the launch of its own Outstanding Alumni Awards. More details to follow.
