Upcoming events for SUSU’s Culture Festival

Alongside the University’s series of events for India Week to commemorate the growing Southampton-India ties, SUSU will be hosting their Culture Festival to celebrate the diversity of our community at UoS and take the time to discover and explore new cultures and faiths.

Discover Islam Week – Monday 14 to 18 March – Various times and locations

A number of workshops and talks with guest speakers will be taking place across the week for you to find out more about the religion Islam and an opportunity to ask questions. Open to everyone including non-Muslims. 

Persian Fire Festival – Tuesday 15 March, 18:00-22:00 – SUSU Redbrick 

Join the Persian Society in welcoming the Norouz (Persian New Year) with music, dance, drinks and the ultimate fire jump which dates back to ancient Persian beliefs in fire’s purifying power. Join in the festivities for just £2.50.  

Protest Poster Making – Thursday 17 March, 18:30 – The Plant Pot 

Come along and create protest posters with Art Society and Extinction Rebellion. No booking is required, just show up.  

International Food Market – Friday 18 March, 11:30-18:00 – SUSU Redbrick 

Head over to the Redbrick to discover lots of delicious food from around the world and the taste of different cultures.  

MexSoc Neon Party – Friday 18 March, 21:00 – The Cube (SUSU) 

Party to Latin music with the Mexican Society at their annual Neon Party in The Cube. For £4.50, you will receive a kit including neon bracelets, neon tattoos and Mexican sweets, as well as neon glow face paint on arrival.

Rangeela Holi Celebrations – Postponed to Saturday 19 March, 15:00-17:00 – SUSU Redbrick 

Get involved with the India Society for their annual Rangeela Holi Celebrations – the ‘Festival of Colours’. Wear a white t-shirt and cover yourself in power paint to celebrate the festival. This celebration has a booking fee of £7.00.
