From exploring the coastline to providing safety cover on a race-course – there’s plenty of powerboating possibilities once qualified.

Talking about the courses, UoS student and Powerboat Level 2 Instructor Sam Richardson, said:

“Doing a Powerboat Level 2 course with the University is a fantastically fun way to spend two days out on the water in Southampton. Whether you’re brand new to boating or have some prior experience, the course caters for everyone – starting with basic boat handling, progressing on to high-speed manoeuvres and culminating in a passage on the second day.

“Even better, doing the course with the University costs about half what it would cost with a normal company – so you can save money by taking advantage of this opportunity!

“With this qualification, you can apply for an International Certificate of Competence which enables you to you hire a boat up to 10m long anywhere in the world – imagine how jealous your friends or family would be if you were to rent a boat on holiday and drive them around with your new qualification!

“I’d definitely urge anyone interested to capitalise on this amazing course offered by the Watersports Centre.”
