We are pleased to announce that we are one of only 20 universities across the UK offering the free Coach Parker programme – a new Sport England funded, joint initiative between Our Parks, UK Coaching and BUCS – making sport and physical activity more accessible to our student community.
By completing the Coach Parker course, you will receive a free accredited Level 2 qualification allowing you to deliver outdoor exercise within your communities and societies, whether that be on campus, in local community areas and other outdoor spaces.
Whether you would like to run an activity for your society to bring people together in the summer, or you are looking to develop your confidence and leadership skills, the Level 2 Coach Parker course will enable those who qualify to run physical activity such as:
- Outdoor group exercise circuits
- Outdoor group exercise bootcamps
- Outdoor group exercise HIIT sessions
- Outdoor full body weight fitness sessions
- General outdoor fitness sessions
Absolutely anyone can become a Coach Parker – you don’t need any previous experience of delivering activities or sports, just an interest and drive to get more students physically active.
How to get involved
The Coach Parker programme consists of pre-course eLearning modules (20 hours) and a face-to-face practical and assessment day on Saturday 21 May, delivered by a qualified tutor.
Simply complete the Microsoft Form and the Sport and Wellbeing Team will be in touch with further details.
