Travel disruptions due to ABP Southampton Marathon

On Sunday 24 April, the ABP Southampton Marathon will be taking place across the city. The event is an amazing opportunity for people from Southampton and beyond to compete in 10k, half marathon and full marathon races.

In order for the races to go ahead, several roads around the city will be closed or have restricted access. You can view a map of the road closures on the marathon website, plus information for local residents. There might also be additional traffic in the city or other disruption to public transport, so please be mindful of the event if planning to travel on 24 April.

The UniLink service will be running alternative bus routes on the race day, please check their Service Updates page as well as their social media for updates closer to the event.

Two of the University Halls of Residence will also be affected by the road closures – Wessex Lane and Highfield Hall. Residents of those halls will receive further information to their student email accounts.

With the route running through University Road, we are excited to be able to showcase our beautiful campus and we are sure that there will be a great atmosphere for runners and observers alike. You can find more information about the marathon celebration activities on the University website.

If you would like to compete in any of the races, you can still sign up on the marathon website. There are also volunteering opportunities if you would like to help with the running of the event and loads of great activities on campus if you need a study break and want to watch the runners compete.
