With the semester two assessment period fast approaching, we understand it can be a stressful time. It is important to look after your wellbeing during this time and reach out for support whenever you need it.
The Student Hub – your first point of contact if you have questions and concerns relating to support, exams and wellbeing. They are contactable 24/7 to answer your questions or concerns or will point you in the direction of someone who can.
Wellbeing chats – the Student Wellbeing Team are available 24/7 to support your wellbeing. If you would like to speak to someone, contact the team via The Student Hub or book an online or in-person chat on the website.
Personal Academic Tutors – can provide one-to-one advice and guidance relating to your course and assessments. If you are unsure who your PAT is, find out on SUSSED via the Banner Self Service.
Campus visits – the Student Wellbeing Team and Academic Skills Service will be visiting various sites to support you ahead of the assessment period:
- Winchester School of Art: Tuesday 3 May, 13:00–16:00
- Hartley Library: Wednesday 4 May, 11:00–14:00
- National Oceanography Centre: Thursday 5 May, 13:00–16:00
Self-help materials – useful to tackle stress, anxiety, or poor sleep and can be accessed in your own time and pace. Just some recommendations include:
- NHS self-help leaflets about practical techniques to help you manage stress.
- Our coping with exam anxiety video to help you understand more about stress response to assessments including wellbeing tips.
- Our managing assessments webpages for help with studies and wellbeing, before, during and after exams.
- Student Space also have some helpful articles on studying and assessments.
SUSU – the Students’ Union Advice Centre provides free, independent, and confidential advice and information to all students on practical matters.
Plan carefully and know what to expect
To reduce stress on the day, you should develop an assessment strategy and check exam details, what you need and how you will get there. Use the exam papers database for past examination papers for all subjects.
