Things to do in Southampton this summer

With the summer break right around the corner, we have put together a list of events and useful links – so whatever you have going on this summer, we have you covered.

Events

A variety of events are taking place at the Faith and Reflection Centre (Building 6, Highfield Campus) across the summer. From mug decorating to board games and language games, find the events open to all students scheduled below. The events are all drop-ins, so you can join whenever you like – however, please note that food and other supplies are on a first-come, first-served basis.  

Mug decorating 
Wednesday 29 June and Wednesday 10 August
 
12:00–14:00 
Drop in to decorate your own mug. There are 50 to give away every session.
Board games and language games  
Wednesday 6 July, 27 July, and 24 August
 
12:00–14:00 
Connect with other students over a variety of fun games, as well as free tea and coffee.
Cream tea 
Wednesday 13 July and Wednesday 3 August
 
12:00–14:00 
Enjoy the traditional English cream tea with other students.  
Ice cream sundae session 
Wednesday 17 August

Come and get everything you need to make your own sundae.  
Crafts session – origami picture frames & photo booth  
Wednesday 31 August

Make your own picture frame, and then take a photo to fill it with.   
End of summer picnic  
Wednesday 7 September

Bring your own lunch and join other students to celebrate the end of summer on campus.

Facilities  

Libraries  

Hartley Library, the Health Services Library, the National Oceanographic Library, and the Winchester School of Art Library are open throughout the summer. Check out the Library website for detailed opening hours 

Sport and Wellbeing 

Sign up for an eight-week summer membership to access all facilities at the Jubilee Sports Centre (opening times can be found on the University website) for the discounted price of £33.99. Information for moving out  

Read our SUSSED post for information about where to donate items and how to best dispose of your rubbish when moving out this summer. 

You can also volunteer to help sort through donations at Wessex Lane Halls.
