Submit your event for the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2022

The 20th annual Festival of Social Science will be returning from 22 October – 12 November this year, with the University of Southampton taking part for the fourth time. The funding call is now open, so it is time to get your thinking caps on!

This year, the festival will be mostly in-person, with the opportunity to host both online and hybrid events.

This is an excellent opportunity for researchers to take part in the UK’s biggest celebration of social science research and engage with a wide range of non-academic audiences including young people, the public, third sector, businesses or government.

Applications for sponsorship of up to £1,000 per event can be made and the event leader pack with more information, can be found on the ESRC IAA FoSS SharePoint site. Applications from all spheres of Social Science are welcomed and it is recommended you read the event leader pack before submitting your idea.

The main theme for this year’s festival is ‘My local area’, a broad theme which aims to celebrate any social science research across Southampton and Hampshire. This can include anything from social and economic history to dialect, political landscape, local businesses and innovators, and the future of our local high streets or public services. The festival will additionally welcome other social science themes, and thus is an excellent opportunity to expand engagement with social science research.

If you are interested in taking part please fill out this proposal form and the team will be in touch. The deadline for submitting an event is Wednesday 27 July.

For more information please email [email protected], or visit the 2021 website to see last year’s events.
