The results of the 2022 National Student Survey (NSS), published Wednesday 6 July, show that our institutional overall satisfaction score remains strong at 79% very similar to 2021. We are ahead of both the sector and Russell Group, with 75% and 76% respectively.
We have seen very significant gains in areas where we have focussed our effort in the last year including learning resources, learning community and the Students’ Union. We have seen slight drops in key areas of teaching and learning and assessment and feedback, albeit maintaining scores ahead of the sector benchmark.
Deborah Gill, Vice-President Education and Student Experience said: “The NSS is a valuable tool for us to understand more about our students’ needs. Looking into our results our students are telling us they’re intellectually stimulated and the courses are well organised, but also that we can improve our dialogue with our students and our assessment practice. My thanks to all the students who completed this survey to help us understand what more we can do to offer a world class educational experience, and of course, our colleagues for being so committed to delivering it.”
Vice-Chancellor Mark E. Smith said: “The NSS survey results show that whilst we continue to perform well and have made significant gains in some areas, we also have areas that we can build upon and improve on. I thank all of you for your incredible work in challenging circumstances and the care and dedication you continue to demonstrate on a daily basis.”
Universities and colleges are not given advance sight of the results and our Insights team will work as quickly as possible to provide you with further details through SUSSED over the coming weeks. Headline results are available on the Power Bi dashboard.
Final year students from over 380 UK Universities and colleges took part in the survey which ran from 6 January to 30 April 2022.
