The Met Office has issued an amber heat warning for Hampshire for Sunday 17 July – Tuesday 19 July. There is a red warning for parts of the South East, East of England and the Midlands.
During this unusually hot weather, wherever possible people should:
- Where appropriate wear clothing that reduces the potential to overheat
- Where possible, open windows (only if the temperature outside is lower than it is inside)
- Drink water regularly to stay hydrated
- Allow more time for travel as roads may be busier and public transport affected – please check before travelling
It is especially important if you work outside to consider the direct effects of the sun and you should apply sunscreen, wear a hat, seek shade where possible, and stay hydrated.
