Your safety on and off campus this summer

The safety of students and staff is our top priority. Here are some tips and advice on how to keep yourself and belongings safe while out and about on campus and in the local community this summer.

Decorative

Be discreet
Most personal robberies are driven by opportunity, so be discreet when using your mobile phone in public and minimise using it in public spaces wherever possible.

Be alert
If you can, avoid using headphones while walking, as this will make it harder to hear if you are approached by a person or car.

Secure your possessions
Make sure that your cash, mobile phone and personal items are not on display. If you are carrying a bag or rucksack, make sure it is closed securely.

Never take risks
If you ever feel threatened, uncomfortable, or at risk, never risk your personal safety. Leave your possessions, seek a place of safety (such as a shop or anywhere where there are other people), and tell someone what is happening.
