Drs Natasha Campling, Michelle Myall and Susi Lund in the School of Health Sciences have been undertaking a study to support families and friends who have been bereaved. Working with people who have experienced bereavement, and bereavement professionals, they have developed a web-resource to support people who have experienced the death of someone important to them.
Uniquely the Families and Friends in Bereavement resource encourages individuals to consider grief and bereavement in the context of family (in which we include relatives of the person who has died as well as friends, neighbours and others who are important to them) to try to make sense of their loss, promote communication, and reflect on ways to manage grief collectively. Each section offers information and suggestions for dealing with grief, activities to manage grief as a family, as well as links to other useful resources and is designed to complement existing bereavement support services.
The researchers would to like to speak to anyone with experience of bereavement from the beginning of 2020, from any cause, or those who have supported the bereaved in this time. If you are interested in taking part, involvement requires accessing the web-resource at www.familiesinbereavement.org.uk and participating in a short one-off interview to share your experiences of using the web-resource. Further details including the study information sheet can be found on the Feedback page of the web-resource.
If you are interested in taking part please email the researchers at: [email protected] or phone 023 8059 8228 (please hold as your call will be forwarded).
This study is funded by a University Hospital Southampton research and development grant and approved by the University of Southampton Research Ethics Committee (ERGO ref: 63208).
