Professional Services leadership changes

Two changes within the Professional Services leadership team are being announced today.

Kieron Broadhead and Yvonne Hawkins

Kieron Broadhead, our Executive Director Student Experience, is to become Senior Executive Director, Students and Infrastructure, & Deputy Vice-President (Operations). He will be the formal standing deputy to the Vice-President (Operations) in her absence. This new role title reflects the additional leadership responsibilities that Kieron will be taking on to support the overall leadership of Professional Services, and the delivery of core infrastructure elements of our University Strategy.

Yvonne Hawkins, who played a key role in the development and implementation of our new University Strategy and its underpinning Strategic Plans, will from 1 September assume the extended role of Executive Director, Governance, Legal and Strategy Implementation. She will take leadership responsibility for our Legal and Governance teams, following the recent retirement of Barbara Halliday, alongside her ongoing work supporting the implementation of our university strategy and working closely with our incoming Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Officer Giles Carden.

Meanwhile, interviews have been taking place for our new Executive Director Estates and Facilities, following the retirement of Kevin Monaghan earlier this year, and we hope to be in a position to make an announcement about an appointment shortly.

Wendy Appleby, Vice-President (Operations), commented: “These appointments will further strengthen the leadership of our Professional Services teams as we embark on our Organisational Excellence Strategic Plan, which we will be sharing with colleagues for discussion in September and is being developed to find better ways to enable colleagues to deliver our triple helix mission.”
