As part of our strategy to build the educational offer of the University, UEB approved a project to undertake a competitive procurement exercise to identify a third-party partner to deliver fully online programmes for the University.
This project will enable the University to enter the Online Education market, releasing a small number of fully online programmes each year that will be managed by an Online Programme Management (OPM) provider. We are now approaching the final stage of the procurement of the OPM, and a successful bidder will be announced in September 2022.
This exciting project aims to advance and support our education strategy in delivering vibrant, transformative, and high-quality online learning experiences and increase the number and diversity of students at the University.
There are several benefits of entering the Online Education market and working with an Online Programme Management (OPM) provider, these include:
- The ability for the OPM to use their market research capabilities to match the University’s strengths and reputation to market demand
- The ability for the OPM to provide key marketing and recruitment support and provide dedicated student support teams for our online students.
- Strategic engagement with the global Online Higher Education market, with a focus on delivering the educational excellence that Southampton is already famous for.
- Showcasing our research and education globally and attract new students from diverse backgrounds.
Over the coming months we will keep you informed of the progress of this project, but in the meantime if you have any questions, please look at the latest version of the FAQs or contact Cheryl Davis.
