Join an open event about Disability Equality

The University is proud to be a Disability Confident Leader, a Government scheme with three levels of attainment, of which our University has achieved the highest level.

To support our next application in 2023, and to provide a challenge to ourselves as an inclusive community for disabled staff and students, we have recently joined the Business Disability Forum (BDF), a not-for-profit membership organisation that exists to “transform the life chances of disabled people working through and with business to create a disability smart world”. The BDF works with around 450 organisations across the UK, and will provide a more stringent and challenging assessment of our working environment.

They also provide a wealth of resources, guidance and knowledge, available to all staff at our University. To access the BDF members’ area, please registerwith your soton.ac.uk email adress at the BDF sign-up page.

More about the Disability Equality event and how to join

The event will take place on Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 13 September at 15:00.

Wendy Appleby, Vice-President (Operations) will introduce the event and outline our approach to disability equality,

Keith Harris, our business partner at BDF, will then introduce the services they provide, and answer any questions we may have. Staff and students are welcome.
