The University will be observing the official bank holiday on Monday 19 September for the State Funeral for Her Majesty The Queen. As a result, most teaching and University activities will be suspended.
On Campus
- Essential facilities including The Student Hub, halls of residence, and the Hartley and Health Services libraries will remain open.
- Catering outlets will be closed with the exception of the Hartley Library café and The Bridge which will both open 10:00 – 16:00. The Bridge will be showing the State Funeral.
- Sports facilities will also be closed.
- There may be revised or reduced services and disruption to travel during the bank holiday, please check Unilink for further information before travelling.
Students: Exams, assessments and marks
For some of our student community, exams and assessments were due to take place on Monday 19 September and Schools will be getting in touch with students directly with further arrangements.
Some students are also due to receive marks on Monday 19 September. Due to the bank holiday marks will not be available to view as initially planned and will be made available to view via Banner Self-Service on Tuesday 20 September. We have postponed the release so Personal Academic Tutors are available to discuss marks with students, what they may mean and further support available.
Please be aware our University activities are continuing largely as normal during this period of national mourning, but we are making changes to some activities and events to ensure they are appropriate and respectful.
If you have any questions, The Student Hub are available 24/7. You can speak to a member of the team by using the online chat, email, telephone or in person on campus.
Staff: annual leave entitlement
For colleagues whose annual leave entitlement is affected, MyHR has now been updated to include the bank holiday, and the carry-over provision can be increased to six days (pro rata for part time staff) with manager approval.
