Unilink buses
Unilink is a great way to get around, linking our campuses and halls sites to various places in Southampton. Download the Unilink Bus app for full timetables and discounted student tickets.

Travelling from Winchester
If you live in Winchester, you can use the regular shuttle bus to travel between Winchester School of Art and Highfield Campus in Southampton. If you have any questions about the shuttle bus, please contact [email protected]

Cycling
If you cycle, here are a few things you can do for a safe journey and to keep your bike secure:

  • Ensure that you have lights, high visibility clothing, and a cycle helmet. You can buy these from the Unilink Transport Office located above the SUSU shop on University Road.
  • Register your bike with Bike Register, a national Police approved database that can help you if your bike is stolen. Membership Plus Kits (Value £12.99) are supplied free at your Halls Reception and the Security Office in Building 32 on Highfield Campus.
  • Take a photo of your bike. Record its make, model, colour, frame number (located underneath the frame, between the pedals) and any other unique features.
  • Use two, good quality bike locks, and at least one robust D-lock when locking your bike. Approved D-locks are available at the Unilink Transport Office for £22.
  • Insure your bike or check that your contents insurance also covers your bike. If you live in University halls and your bike is locked through the frame in a University cycle store, or it is locked to a cycle hoop for up to 24 hours, then it will be insured by the University for up to £1000.
  • Use our cycle stores or lock your bike to the hoops at halls and on campus. To use the stores, register your ID card at the Unilink Transport Office. Registration for halls cycle storage is free for halls residents.
Use the MySouthampton app to find bike storage and parking.
  • Keep your bike in good condition so it is safe to use. The Bike Doctor provides free repairs and checks. The team can be found outside the SUSU building between 9:30 and 14:00 on the following dates:
    • 2 and 16 September
    • 14 and 28 October
    • 11 and 25 November
    • 9 December
    • 6 and 20 January
    • 3 and 17 February
    • 3, 17 and 31 March
    • 14 and 28 April

Hire Schemes

Southampton has two hire schemes in place which can help you travel sustainably around the city – there is an e-scooter hire scheme operated by Voi and a bike hire scheme by BerylWhilst the Voi scheme has been in place in Southampton for a while, the Beryl scheme has just launched and provides both pedal bikes and e-bikes which you can hire. On University premises you can find Beryl bikes on Highfield Campus, Avenue Campus, Boldrewood Campus, as well as at Wessex Lane and Chamberlain Halls, with more to be installed in the future. Voi scooters are widely available across Southampton – download the operator app for full information about locations.

The new Breeze App, developed by Solent Transport, can help you plan your journey around the south of Hampshire, and it can be used to hire both Voi e-scooters and Beryl bikes.

You can find more information about transport on the University website
