Invitation to a talk: Engaging with the Media

Our academic colleagues are invited to join a talk entitled ‘Engaging with the Media’ with Freya Robb, Senior Press Officer at the Science Media Centre and Dr Michael Head, Senior Research Fellow in Global Health, Clinical Informatics Research Unit, Faculty of Medicine.

Public communications are an important part of a scientist’s job

The event will take place on Friday 11 November 2022, 2.15 pm – 3.15 pm, Highfield Campus (Building 58, Room 1023). Visit StaffBook to book your free place.

Public communications are a hugely important part of a scientist’s job. Open access research, transparency about how taxpayers’ money is being spent on research, and the need to inspire the next generation are all reasons for some form of public engagement.

In this seminar, we will hear why engagement with the media is an important tool in a scientist’s portfolio to drive the narrative, educate the public, and create impact using their research and expertise.

You can find more information on the RIS SharePoint site.
