Inter Faith Week 13 – 20 November 2022

Inter Faith Week is a national event which was established in 2009 to help to strengthen inter faith relations, raise awareness of the different faith communities in the UK and increase understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs. The Parkes Institute lead on the programme at the University of Southampton with events for both staff and students.

Highlights for staff include:

Tuesday 15 November 10:00 – 17:00: Open day at the Faith and Reflection Centre (Building 6)

Join the Faith and Reflection Centre (FRC) chaplains and volunteers in their café for a chance to take a break and meet some of the team with free tea, coffee and cake. There will be interactive displays for staff and students to explore the idea of faith.

Tuesday 15 November 18:00: Parkes Institute Inter Faith Lecture by Rob Thompson “After Belsen: Christian Encounters with Jews in the Aftermath of the Holocaust” (Lecture Theatre C and online)

Led by Rob Thompson, a PhD candidate in the Department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies at University College London, this lecture will explore some of these unique stories of Christian-Jewish encounters in the wake of the Holocaust. Book your place in the Parkes Institute website

Thursday 17 November 18:30: Quaker Centre Inter Faith event: “What does peace mean to you?” (FRC, Building 6)

The Quakers invite you to reflect on peace; the event will include a discussion, Q and A session and tea, coffee and biscuits. Please email [email protected] if you wish to attend.
