Southampton Arts and Humanities Festival, the University of Southampton’s annual celebration of humanities and the arts open to the public, returns this November with a hybrid programme of online and in-person events exploring some of the research performed at the University of Southampton.
Running 10–19 November, the festival will conclude with Hands-on Humanities Day at the Avenue Campus on Saturday 19 November, 10:30 – 16:30. This renowned family-friendly day is packed with interactive activities, workshops, talks, exhibitions and live performances, suitable for all ages.
From archaeology, history and philosophy to modern languages, linguistics, writing and music, through to the arts and with a pinch of science, the festival programme is rich and varied. The event is included in the UK-wide Being Human festival programme, in partnership with the Southampton Institute for Arts and Humanities.
Thanks to the successful contribution of several academics and students across the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, attendees will be invited to join in with activities including walking around an archaeological site in Minecraft and Assassin’s Creed, be surrounded by Monarch butterflies in the Digital Humanities Igloo, join the celebrations for the Mexican Day of the Dead, and get creative while speaking on the radio or writing a poem or letter.
Attendance is free, but registration through Eventbrite is required.
