Levels 4-6 objectives cover an extended appraisal period, from 1 January 2022 to 31 July 2023. Doing so will bring everyone at all Levels onto one appraisal year from summer 2023, when all staff will be using the new process.
Keeping in Contact
During the extended period, it is important for appraisers and appraisees to meet at regular intervals to ensure the right level of support and direction is provided and that objectives remain relevant and achievable. These discussions could form part of regular one-to-one meetings, or it may be more helpful to set aside some dedicated time to discuss progress and review objectives at three or six-monthly points.
After the discussion, appraisees should reflect any adjustments agreed on their own appraisal form.
It may be helpful to keep notes on progress to help you recall the full appraisal period, when appraisal discussions next take place in summer 2023.
Next steps
- Appraisers: check you have one-to-one meetings booked in with your appraisees. Meet and discuss how they are progressing with their objectives.
- Appraisees: review your appraisal objectives and consider what has progressed or changed, what you might want to add or amend? Talk this through with your manager. Following any discussion regarding your objectives, update your appraisal form to ensure your records are up to date.
Please see the changes to appraisal page and timeline for more information.
Appraisers at all levels can book on appraisal training now so that you are prepared for the transition.
