University marks International Day of People with Disabilities

Saturday 3 December 2022 marks International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPWD). The United Nations identify International Day of People with Disabilities as a time for ‘celebration, learning, action and optimism’. The theme for 2022 is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world’.

Due to this event falling over the weekend the University will celebrate by flying the purple flag today, Thursday 1 December, at 9:30. Staff and students were invited to join the UoS Disability Staff Network, Wendy Appleby, Disability Equality Sponsor and Shaun Williams, UoS Disability Staff Network Senior Leader Champion at Jubilee Plaza for the occasion.

All staff and PGRs who identify as having a disability or being differently abled are invited to join the UoS Disability Staff Network. If you would like to find out more please visit the Network Sharepoint Site or email Chair Libby Barton via [email protected].
