As we approach the end of term and winter break, please be aware of the following updates, changes to opening hours, and information on where you can access around-the-clock support if you need it.
Individual exam and assessment timetables
Your personal exam and assessment timetable for semester one will be available to view via your SUSSED account no later than 17:00 on Thursday 22 December – also available via the My Southampton App. It will include the time, date, location and seat number for your exams.
We initially suggest that you:
- Carefully check your personalised timetable: take note of your venue, building number, room number and seat number. View your exam room online.
- Read through the instructions to candidates to ensure that you know what to do and what to expect.
- If you require a calculator or dictionary, read the assessment regulations.
Where to study – Library opening hours
Hartley Library on Highfield Campus will remain open for 24 hours until Thursday 15 December (starting again on Monday 9 January). It will remain open over the break (excluding 25 and 26 December), but at different times. Please visit the website to view opening hours for Hartley Library and all the University libraries during this period.
The Academic Skills Hub drop-in service will be open until 16:00 on Thursday 15 December, and then closed until Tuesday 3 January.
Safety after dark
Please prioritise your safety if studying late on campus. Avoid walking home alone after dark but if you have to:
- Keep to busy, well-lit areas and use main routes/paths.
- Walk on the pavement facing the traffic.
- Never take shortcuts down dark alleys or cut through parks.
Southampton Sport change to opening hours
Here are the altered opening times between 23 December–2 January at various sites:

IT support services
Our IT support services will be closed from Friday 23 December until Tuesday 3 January 2023. This includes:
- ServiceLine – the IT service desk
- The Help Desk at Hartley Library
- The Tech Hub at the Sir James Matthews Building
Please ensure you have carried out essential IT checks on SUSSED to avoid disruption over the break. If you need IT support during this time, the Knowledge Base hosts a wide range of guidance. If you have forgotten your password and cannot access your account, please contact The Student Hub.

From Monday 9 January onwards, the usual walk-in service times at all locations – as shown on The Student Hub website – start again.
Faith and Reflection Centre (FRC)
The FRC is closed from 17:00 on Friday 16 December until 10:00 on Monday 9 January. The chaplains and faith advisors will be contactable via email, so please check the website for contact details.
