The winter 2022 edition of Re:action is now out and celebrates the University’s strong and diverse links to Southampton, Winchester and the South.
The University is at the heart of the community. It has a significant impact on local society – and vice versa – and there are strong ambitions to grow and formalise its civic role.
The University launched its new Strategy for the next five years in January 2022, and one significant addition is the commitment to being a Civic University.
This edition of Re:action celebrates a wide range of research, knowledge exchange and enterprise activities from across the University that all contribute to the ambition to be a very strong Civic University.
Projects and work showcased in this edition include the long-standing LifeLab; Dr Priti Mishra’s work with local South Asian migrant communities; Professor AbuBakr Bahaj’s work as Scientific Advisor to Southampton City Council; local projects by the Social Impact Lab; the Web Science Institute’s input into the Fawley Waterside new town; the Business School’s involvement with the Hares of Hampshire; and Professor Tony Kushner’s research into Southampton’s migrant past and present… and lots more.
