What is Financial Wellbeing?
Financial wellbeing is having a sense of financial security and feeling that you have enough money to meet your needs. It’s about being in control of your everyday finances and being able to manage debt responsibly.
Increases in the cost of living mean that, at some point, many people might become worried about their finances. Money worries can affect your mental and physical health so it’s an important factor in your overall wellbeing. Additionally, poor mental health can make managing finances more difficult.
If you feel financial worries are affecting your mental health, support is available in the form of the Employee Assistance Programme. If you need to speak to someone urgently about your mental health a trained member of staff from the University’s First Aid for Mental Health network can be found here.
