Work to develop our University’s new Ordinances* and employment procedures has been ongoing for some time.
*Ordinances are approved by the University’s governing Council and expand on the Charter, providing further detail about how our University works and how bodies such as Senate operate.
Colleagues from both the University and our Trade Unions (UCU, UNISON & Unite) have been engaged in an extensive period of negotiation and consultation.
Following colleagues’ incredible hard work, all parties have now agreed to submit the new Employment Ordinance and employment procedures for consultation with Trade Union members.
The consultation is expected to close at the end of February 2023, ahead of a meeting at the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC).

All staff are now invited to view the proposed new Ordinances and employment procedures (expected to be effective from 1 August 2023).
