Time to Talk Day 2023 – ways to join the conversation

This year’s ‘Time to Talk Day’ takes place tomorrow (Thursday 2 February) – a day to come together to talk, listen and change lives. We understand talking about mental health isn’t always easy, so here are some ways to help you start a conversation on the day and beyond.

Craft and chat drop in sessions
If you’re on our campuses tomorrow, join us at the Winchester School of Art (WSA) Café from 10:00-12:00 or the Faith and Reflection Centre (FRC) on Highfield Campus from 12:30-14:30 to make space in your day for a conversation about mental health over free crafts.

You can paint a positivity rock to hide around our campuses or to give someone or create a paper fortune teller with conversation starters.

There is no need to book, but supplies are limited so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Free hot drinks and lanyards
The session at the FRC will have free hot chocolate available on the day. At WSA, we will be giving out a limited number of hot drink vouchers so you can get a hot drink of your choice from the café.

We will also be at Hartley Library foyer in the morning handing out lanyards as part of the day so keep an eye out if you’re around.

Weekly wellbeing café open to all students
The weekly wellbeing café runs every Wednesday from 10:00-12:00 at the Wellbeing Centre (Building 105, 128 University Road, Highfield Campus).

Drop in for free refreshments, arts, crafts, games and friendly faces – booking is not required, and you can stay for as long or little as you like.

Four-week online Mindfulness course
Tuesday 28 February–Tuesday 21 March, 1:30-3:30
To help take care of your wellbeing, you may be interested in our upcoming Mindfulness course where you will learn formal and informal mindfulness practices, involving sitting meditations, gentle movement, walking meditation and bringing mindful awareness to everyday tasks.

The course will require you to attend online group sessions on Microsoft Teams each week, as well as complete daily practice at home.
