Changes to the Unilink and Bluestar bus routes

Unilink U1 changes

Due to infrastructure work being carried out on Southampton Central Station, the Unilink U1 route will undergo temporary changes for approximately six months.

Travel between the station and NOCS will be affected, with the nearest U1 stop to the station being Asda Marlands on Portland Terrace. Bus timetables will change slightly to accommodate the route change.

For connections between central station and Highfield, Avenue and Boldrewood campuses, the U2 route is unaffected and will continue to operate from the north station entrance (Mayflower side).

Unilink has released a temporary route map and an updated timetable with the upcoming changes.

Expansion of the Bluestar network

Bluestar are significantly expanding their network from 19 February, to include more connections from east of the Itchen, including Hedge End, Thornhill, Woolston, Weston and Netley. This provides an opportunity for staff and students living in these areas to embrace more sustainable forms of transport and utilise their single bus pass to travel to the university more easily – and in addition, Bluestar route 19 will now run every 15 minutes Monday-Friday. Some routes will require a change in the city centre to get to Highfield, Avenue and Boldrewood campuses.

Unilink passes are accepted on all Bluestar routes in Southampton.

Full details and an updated network map can be found on the Bluestar webpage.
