Expressions of interest for interdisciplinary research Resilient Society sandpit now open

Following the success of the previous Interdisciplinary Research (IDR) sandpits, the Resilient Society sandpit will be held on Monday 27 March at Wide Lane Sports Centre. Hosted by the Associate Vice-President (Interdisciplinary Research), this sandpit will explore interdisciplinary approaches to increasing resilience to a range of threats including environmental (e.g. climatic events), health (e.g. pandemics) and political (e.g. terrorism) to all aspects of our society.

The Resilient Society sandpit will bring together potential collaborators from across the University to share research interests and ideas. It aims to create connections and begin conversations between researchers from diverse disciplines and perspectives, leading towards ideas for potential new research projects and grant applications. At the end of the event participants will be invited to bid for funding from a pot of £30,000 to support innovative pilot projects emerging from the event.

The sandpit is open to research and academic staff at the University of Southampton, and participants are welcome from all disciplines and backgrounds. Applications are particularly encouraged from researchers with an interest in resilience and those from any background who are curious about the connection. The event offers an opportunity to create new interdisciplinary connections and explore new ways of working. An interest in interdisciplinary research and a willingness to explore areas outside of your own expertise is important.

If you are interested in participating, please submit your Expression of Interest by 17:00 Monday 6 March. Please note, attendees are expected to be present for the full day of this event (09:15-16:30).
