As part of the University’s Strategy, we have made a commitment to enhancing our physical estate, facilities and digital infrastructure to provide ever-more creative, vibrant environments to support our ambitions.
On Saturday 4 March, the University will be holding a listening exercise in the WSA Café from 11:00-14:00. This will provide the residents of Winchester with the opportunity to share their thoughts on the area so local views can be considered at this early stage.
We set out the details of some of those plans for our campuses within Southampton at the recent Estate Exhibition and we are now beginning to consider plans for developing our Winchester School of Art campus.
There are many options for increasing and enhancing the estate within Winchester, starting with renting some of the space in the Winchester Guildhall, one of the School of Art’s historic homes.
Future development has several potential locations including the former police station site, the Handy Villas site recently acquired by the University and the potential to develop a business case for redevelopment of the former River Park Leisure Centre site should we choose to take out a long lease from Winchester City Council at the end of the current consideration period they have granted us.
Shortly after the event the materials will be available to view on the university website. Should staff or students wish to give their thoughts on the development of our Winchester campus, please do email [email protected]. We will be receiving comments until Friday 31 March 2023.
Any future development plans for the Winchester School of Art campus will be fully consulted on.
