Spring break – support, opening times, and events

With spring break only a few days away (Monday 27 March – Sunday 23 April), below you can find adjusted opening times for our services, how to access support, and other useful links and information.

The Student Hub – support around-the-clock  

The Student Hub are here to support you 24/7, 365 days a year, including throughout this spring break. If you have any issues or need support, you can speak to an advisor instantly via the online chat, call us at any hour on 02380 599 599, or contact us by email.

Alternatively, you can visit us in person on Highfield Campus and at the Winchester School of Art, with all other locations closed for walk-in services during the break. Here is the full schedule from Monday 27 March:

Where to study – Library and catering outlets opening times

If you are planning to study on our campuses over the break, our libraries will be open as follows – please make sure you also check the opening times on the Library website before heading out.

  • 09:00-21:00 from Thursday 6 April until Saturday 8 April and from Monday 10 April until Wednesday 12 April
  • Closed on Sunday 9 April
Winchester School of Art Library
  • Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00
  • Closed from Thursday 6 April and reopening on Wednesday 12 April
Health Services Library
  • Monday-Sunday, 08:00-20:00
  • 09:00-17:00 from Thursday 6 April until Saturday 8 April and from Monday 10 April until Wednesday 12 April
  • Closed on Sunday 9 April
National Oceanographic Library
  • Monday-Sunday, 08:00-20:00
  • Closed from Thursday 6 April and reopening on Wednesday 12 April

Academic Skills Hub – study support  

Whether you are preparing for the upcoming exams and assessments period, or working on your dissertation over the spring break, don’t forget that the Academic Skills Hub has a variety of resources to help you with your planning, writing, research, and more – including online training and a step-by-step dissertation planner.

While the usual drop-in service will be closed from Monday 3 April until Monday 17 April when it reopens, you can get support from the expert team throughout the break either via Writing and Maths appointments, or by contacting [email protected]

Southampton Sport – facilities opening times

Jubilee Sports Centre will only be closed on Easter Sunday (9 April), with adjusted opening times from 08:00 to 20:00 between Thursday 6 and Wednesday 12 April. Usual opening hours will resume from Wednesday 12 April.

IT support services

Our IT support services will be closed between Thursday 6 April and Wednesday 12 April – this includes ServiceLine and the Tech Hubs at Hartley Library and the Sir James Matthews building.  

Access the IT Knowledge Base for information on a wide range of issues if you need support during this time, or contact The Student Hub if you have forgotten your password and can’t access your account.

Spring break events  

Visit the My Southampton app regularly for all student events during the break. These include: 

  • Toastie Time – free toasties and group jigsaw puzzles every Wednesday of the break, 12:30-14:00 at the Faith and Reflection Centre*. 
  • Wellbeing Café – an opportunity to unwind with arts, crafts, and free light refreshments every Wednesday (12:00-14:00, Wellbeing Centre) and Sunday (14:00-17:00, The Student Hub Hangout Space) – including on Easter Sunday.  
  • Be Active Social Badminton sessions on most Tuesdays and Thursdays during the break – check the app for the full schedule.

*Please note, the Faith and Reflection Centre will be closed during the break outside of the Toastie Time events, and will reopen as normal from Monday 24 April.
