Planned power outage on Saturday 22 April

On Saturday 22 April 2023 power supplies will be sequentially shut down from the substation in Faraday Tower that will result in a short-term loss of power within the following buildings on Highfield Campus: B19, B21, B23, B25 and could potentially impact B27.  This will be an on-going process and will affect circuits randomly throughout the day.  This is an essential piece of work to assess the power needs ahead of the removal of a substation within the Faraday Tower.

No other buildings on Highfield Campus will be impacted by this planned power outage.

Please note the computer workstations within B25 and B27 will be switched off and unavailable from 12:00 on Friday 21 April until 09:00 on Monday 24 April. Details of alternative computer workstations are available on this campus map.

Those building users who may be impacted by this work have been contacted directly. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please do get in touch with the Project Team via [email protected]

The demolition of the Faraday Tower is the next project in the University’s programme of investment across its campuses. The enabling works are scheduled to start in July 2023, to be followed by the demolition of the tower in the first half of 2024. A programme of works will be shared with the University community before the start of the project.
