Playing with the Climate Crisis is a three-day hybrid table top gaming event taking place from 13 – 15 April at The Winchester Gallery, Winchester School of Art, and online.
The event is an opportunity for anyone interested in exploring how games can help us make sense of the climate crisis, participants will include climate activists, artists, designers, policy makers, university researchers, and students.
The line-up includes talks, the chance to participate in a climate game making workshop and the opportunity to be the first people in the world to play a pre-production copy of the game Daybreak.
Daybreak is designed by Matt Leacock, the creator of Pandemic (the most successful cooperative game in history), and Matteo Menapace, a designer and educator specializing in cooperative play. Daybreak is developed and published by CMYK.
PLAY: try climate-themed games. There will be 12 different games to play and two timed sessions to play Daybreak, facilitated by co-designer Matteo Menapace.
LEARN: designers will present their games and research in a series of short talks + Q&A panels.
MAKE: participants will prototype and playtest games in response to the climate crisis.
Playing with the Climate Crisis is co-organised by Adam Procter, Programme Leader for the BA Games Design & Art at Winchester School of Art, and Matteo Menapace.
