In February, Pascal Matthias took up post as the University’s first Associate Vice-President for EDI and Social Justice.
Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, he is responsible for working with the University’s senior leadership team to develop individual and collective leadership of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and to act as a driving force in establishing and promoting routes for minority voices to contribute to the achievement of our EDI ambitions. Pascal will also continue, on a part time basis, as a Senior Teaching Fellow, Fashion Promos, at the Winchester School of Art and as Co-Founder of Fashion Academics Creating Equality (FACE).
Watch a conversation between Pascal Matthias and Bhupinder Siran, Chair of the REACH network
They discuss this new role and Pascal’s priorities, the pace of change and how everyone can start to contribute to an inclusive culture without fear of “getting it wrong”. A transcript for the video is available.
