Festival of Social Science – deadline reminder

The 21st annual Festival of Social Science will be returning Saturday 21 October – Saturday 17 November this year, with the University of Southampton taking part for the fifth time. This year the festival will be mostly in-person, but with the opportunity to host both online and hybrid events.

There is still time to submit an application and we look forward to hearing your fantastic ideas. The deadline for applications is Thursday 8 June. If you are interested in taking part please fill out the application form and the team will be in touch.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for researchers to take part in the UK’s biggest celebration of social science research and engage with a wide range of non-academic audiences including young people, third sector, businesses, and government.

Applications for sponsorship of up to £1,000 per event can be made. Applications from all spheres of social science are welcomed and an Event Leader Pack will be made available shortly.

The main theme for this year’s festival is ‘Lifelong Wellbeing’, a broad theme which aims to celebrate any social science research across Southampton and Hampshire. Events can be on any aspect of health and wellbeing, and this can include events for the 75th anniversary of the NHS. The festival will additionally welcome other social science themes which encourage, support and create opportunities for social science researchers to engage with the public.

For more information please email [email protected], or visit our 2022 website to see last year’s events.
