PNU, which is based in the city of Riyadh in a self-contained higher education city, has around 29,000 students and 5,900 staff.

A particular focus of the cooperation is to support female students across all education programmes.

The memorandum of understanding envisages the development of cooperation in curriculum development; collaborative research and discovery, learning and teaching; student exchange; and other mutually agreed educational or research programmes.

The agreement builds on connections established by Professor Jane Falkingham and Professor Bashir Lwaleed who met with Southampton alumna Professor Hadeel Alsaleh (VP International, PNU) and Dr Areej AlFawaz (Dean Business School, PNU) back in September 2021.
