Whether you are still studying, working over the summer, writing your postgraduate dissertation, or have summer plans in the area, we know many of you might be staying in Southampton for at least part of the summer break. With the end of the academic year approaching, we have compiled information about support, available services and facilities, and events you can attend during this time.
The Student Hub – here for you 24/7
Don’t forget that The Student Hub is here to help regardless of the time of year – if you have any issues or need support during this summer, you can speak to an advisor instantly via the online chat, call us at any hour on 02380 599 599, or contact us by email.

Please note, The Student Hub at the Sir James Matthews Building will be closed from Friday 30 June until Monday 2 October. If you are graduating at the O2 Guildhall Southampton this July, the team will also be at Sir James Matthews to assist you from Wednesday 19 to Friday 29 July.
Studying on campus this summer
The Hartley, Winchester School of Art, National Oceanographic and Health Services libraries will be open throughout the summer for anyone in need of study spaces and resources. Make sure you check the opening times for your preferred library on the Library website.
If you need academic support, the Academic Skills Team are available to support you this summer. You can access online resources, drop in to see the team at Hartley Library, or book an appointment – find out more via the Academic Skills Hub website.
Most of the catering outlets on our campuses will also be open during the break – visit the Catering website for out of term opening times. For all food offers, giveaways, and discounts available on our campuses visit the Cost of Living SharePoint site.
Southampton Sport
Jubilee Sport Centre, Mayflower Gym, Wide Lane and the Watersports Centre will all be available this summer. While the Jubilee Sports Hall is closed for renovations, the Jubilee Sports Centre gym and swimming pool are both open every day of the week. Check the Southampton Sport website for full opening hours of their facilities.

Faith and Reflection Centre
The Faith and Reflection Centre will be closed from Saturday 17 June until Friday 18 September.
Free events
Visit the My Southampton app and the SUSU events calendar regularly for up-to-date student events during the break. Free recurring events include:
- Wellbeing Café – relax with arts, crafts, and free light refreshments every Wednesday (12:00-14:00, Wellbeing Centre) and Sunday (14:00-17:00, The Student Hub Hangout Space). No booking required – just come along and enjoy!
- Be Active Social Badminton sessions – join for free every Thursday in June and July, 16:00-17:00 at the SUSU Team Southampton Sports Hall. All equipment is provided, and all levels of experience are welcome. No booking required.
